CLAY — The city of Clay is hosting a carnival from Thursday, Aug. 27 – Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020.
The carnival will be set up at 6735 Old Springville Road, the property between the Clay Public Library and the United States Post Office, in Clay.
C&M Southern Midways will operate the carnival and will bring a variety of rides to entertain kids and adults, including the Ferris Wheel, the carousel, the Gravatron and swings.
Owner Charles Haisch said the company plans to bring around 15 rides and there will be games and carnival food available for purchase.
Haisch has been in the carnival business for 30 years. C&M Southern Midways operates carnivals all around the southeast including in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and North Carolina. The company is based out of Talladega.
In order to protect attendees and employees, C&M Southern Midways will sanitize rides and will only allow half capacity on rides.
“If someone is family they can sit next to each other,” Haisch said. “But other than that they will be separated.”
There will also be temperature checks at the entrance of the carnival and there will be signage around the area reminding people how to protect themselves and others from coronavirus.
Rides are inspected on every setup and daily by C&M Southern Midways maintenance team, and weekly by local and state safety inspectors.
The company takes great pride in the cleanliness of their rides.
Carnival hours are Thursday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. until people stop coming.
Tickets are $1 each or $10 for a dozen ride tickets, or $20 wristbands for unlimited rides.
