BIRMINGHAM — Detectives with the Birmingham Police Department are conducting a homicide investigation following an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
A report from BPD shows that officers from the Community Safety Partnership Unit responded to the 7500 block of 66th Courtway South at approximately 4:33 p.m. Wednesday on a call of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers found the victim — 32-year-old Cadarius Killian — lying in a grassy area unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Killian was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue and Jefferson County Coroner.
The preliminary investigation suggest multiple gunshots were heard in the area by neighbors. The motive in this investigation appears to involve previous illegal activity.
Police say multiple people were in the area when the gunfire began. There are no suspects in custody.
