HUEYTOWN — Another high school football game is likely off the table for this Friday night.
Clay-Chalkville head coach Drew Gilmer says he has received word that the Cougars’ Week 1 opponent, Hueytown, is likely to cancel this Friday’s game, due to concerns related to coronavirus.
Clay-Chalkville opened up its 2020 season last Friday night with a 37-19 victory at Shades Valley. The Golden Gophers were also in play last week, dropping a 54-37 decision at Minor.
If Hueytown is ultimately unable to host the Cougars this week, Gilmer and the boys would be scheduled next for a Class 6A, Region 6 contest at Jasper on Sept. 4.
However, Gilmer says the school will do everything it can to find a Week 1 replacement in the coming days.
Hewitt-Trussville is also idle this week after Saraland canceled its Aug. 28 bout with the Huskies.
