PINSON — The recruitment for Pinson Valley running back Kenji Christian appears to be coming to an end.
On Monday morning, three days after running for exactly 100 yards in a season-opening loss to Hewitt-Trussville, Christian announced his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. The senior chose the Hokies over Ole Miss.
Christian ran for 451 yards and four scores on just 63 carries last season as a junior. His workload is expected to increase this fall under first-year head coach Sam Shade.
He spoke to Rivals.com about his decision: “It was tough,” Christian said. “It was not an easy decision, but Virginia Tech has recruited me hard from the beginning, they really got to know me as a person and it is just a great fit for me, so I am a Hokie.”
He and the Indians will look to rebound this Friday night with a visit to Shades Valley.
