ARGO — Voters in Argo have chosen to bring back Mayor Betty Bradley for a second term. Bradley on Tuesday finished with 296 votes to top challenger Shawn-Patrick Hynes with 71.
Bradley says she is humbled by the opportunity to serve a second term in Argo.
“I’m thankful to the residents of Argo for putting me back in office,” said Bradley on Wednesday. “I’m very humbled by the reaction of our citizens. I appreciate their votes.”
With four years of experience as mayor, Bradley has learned to appreciate the efforts of her council.
“I think the first four years is a learning experience for you, because you have to develop a feel for the office and realize you can’t do everything all at once,” said Bradley. “You have to work with your council. We have to all work together for the better of our community, and I feel like without that council helping make those decisions, it would be almost impossible for one person to be able to accomplish anything.”
The Argo City Council will add Danny McCarley, who filled an open seat in Place 4 with 187 votes on Tuesday. He held off Eric Glen Springer with 156 votes.
Incumbent Ann Brown secured her seat in Place 5 with a 290-77 win over Stephanie Hynes.
“I’m really grateful for the people that stood up and put their name out there and wanted to try to move our city forward.
