DORA — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 26 in Dora.
According to a report filed with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Brandon Monroe Thomas was shot around midnight on Wednesday, while cooking in his kitchen at a residence in the 6500 block of Snowville Brent Road in Dora.
According to the report, Thomas was able to awaken his parents to advise them he had been shot. He was taken to Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, where he was pronounced dead at 1:22 a.m.
Jefferson County detectives believe the gunfire came from outside the residence. They also believe the shooter likely knew the victim.
