Residents in Jefferson and Tuscaloosa counties can receive free, self-administered COVID-19 tests through Sept. 2, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADOPH) Thursday.
Drive-through COVID-19 testing sites are available at no charge to all state residents, including children, at three testing sites:
- Riverchase Galleria, 2500 Galleria Circle (Sears parking lot), Hoover
- Cathedral of the Cross A.O.H. Church of God, 1480 Center Point Parkway, Birmingham
- Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service Training – Logistics Center, 3311 Kauloosa Ave., Tuscaloosa
An appointment can be made HERE. Insurance is not required. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. from Thursday, Aug. 27, through Saturday, Aug. 29, and Monday, Aug. 31, through Wednesday, Sept. 2.
According to the ADOPH, persons being tested will go to the drive-through location where they will be asked questions, receive a package to swab their own nostrils and return the specimen kit. Tests are offered to children as well as adults. Laboratory results will be returned in five days or less.
