UPDATE: Christopher Shawn Vance, 29, of Birmingham, has been identified as the victim of a homicide that took place in Ensley on Sunday, Aug. 30. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity on Monday morning.
BIRMINGHAM — One man was killed early Sunday morning in a shooting in Birmingham in what is being described as a domestic situation, according to Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 1500 block of 20th Place in Ensley at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, the victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the residence, Mauldin said. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Two males were in an altercation over a female, resulting in the victim being shot,” Mauldin said. “We do have a person of interest in custody. However, we are still asking for additional assistance.”
