CENTER POINT — It was a tough night for the Center Point defense, as seventh-ranked Alexandria knocked off the Eagles 52-28 in the Class 5A, Region 6 opener for both teams.
The Valley Cubs (2-0, 1-0) put things out of reach early, building a 31-6 halftime lead. According to al.com, Alexandria quarterback David Wesley Wright scored four touchdowns and threw for 155 yards on the road. His three touchdown passes went for 45, 44 and 41 yards on Friday night.
For Center Point, sophomore quarterback Troy Bruce put up 115 yards rushing and three scores on 19 carries. The first-year QB scored from 31, 7 and 37 yards out.
The Eagles (1-2, 0-1) will look to rebound next Friday in region play at Lincoln.
