BALDWIN COUNTY — According to multiple reports, the suspect of a south Alabama shooting was booked into the Baldwin County Jail on Monday, Aug. 7. Robert Smith, 38, of Grove Hill, was arrested on Sunday and accused of firing more than 30 shots into the Bass Pro Shops located in Spanish Fort.
According to a report from FOX10 News, Smith faces charges of second-degree assault, firing into an occupied dwelling, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. Police say no one was harmed during the shooting, as Barber was tasered multiple times by police before being taken into custody.
Barber arrived at the sporting goods store armed with three AR-style weapons, a shotgun, a 9 mm rifle and two 9 mm pistols. Authorities described the incident as an averted tragedy.
Investigators told FOX10 News that an additional 10 guns and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were found at Smith’s home.
