From The Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 9, all students in Trussville City Schools will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch through a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) coronavirus relief program, according to TCS Child Nutrition Coordinator Morgan Bean
Bean said the program was recently reinstated and will run through December 2020 providing that the funding lasts that long. The free meals are being provided by the U.S.D.A. in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has left families across the country with food insecurities, Bean’s letter stated.
All TCS students will be able to eat both breakfast and lunch at no cost. This applies to all TCS students in all grade levels. Students enrolled in the Husky Online Academy will also receive their weekly meals at no cost beginning September 9.
While the initial meals are free, students who purchase additional meals or “a la carte” items will be charged for those items.
