GULF SHORES — Hurricane Sally made landfall near Gulf Shores on Wednesday morning at 4:45 a.m as a category 2 hurricane. The storm is pounding the coastal area with torrential rain and maximum sustained 105 mph winds.
By 5 a.m., there were reports of widespread power outage across the area.
The storm is expected to veer northeast bringing heavy rains to south central Alabama before moving into Georgia.
