KIMBERLY — COVID-19 strikes again, this time in Kimberly at Mortimer Jordan High School.
According to Mortimer Jordan head football coach Dusty Goode, his Blue Devils will be sitting the next two weeks out due to problems created by COVID-19. Luckily, Mortimer Jordan is idle tomorrow night, but the team’s Sept. 25 home game with Briarwood Christian has been canceled.
Goode says the status of a Class 6A, Region 6 game at Pinson Valley on Oct. 2 is unclear at this time. That contest is currently scheduled for two weeks from Friday.
Mortimer Jordan, who made the jump from 5A to 6A this season, is off to a 1-3 start, including an 0-2 start to region play. As the schedule stands tonight, the Blue Devils would follow their trip to Pinson Valley with another region test against Clay-Chalkville on Oct. 9.
“Next week’s game (Briarwood Christian) will be cancelled,” said Goode. “Don’t know about the others yet.”
