TRUSSVILLE — After gracing Main Street in Trussville for 46 years, Mary’s Bouquet closed its doors.
Sisters Linda Barnett and Sandra Hodge sold the building on Main Street to the Trussville Redevelopment Authority (TRA) for $299,250.00. Their family has been operating the florist since the 90s.
“We’ve been happy to have been there,” said Barnett. “We have just had so many good customers that are really just like friends. We have valued being in Trussville all these years.”
Barnett said some of her customers have been shopping with her for many years but she is hopeful for what the TRA has in store for the downtown area.
“We’re sad to not be there any longer but maybe they [TRA] can do something else with the building,” Barnett said. “It’s sad to be closing after all these years.”
Although there are no plans to reopen right away, Barnett said she is considering opening another location in the future.
“I have looked around a little to see what we might be interested,” Barnett said. “But right now I don’t know.”
It is unclear what TRA plans to do with the building.
