PINSON — Rayvon Crum had something to say on Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle took to Twitter to announce his commitment to the University of North Texas, choosing the Mean Green over a slew of additional options, including West Virginia, UCF, South Alabama, Kansas, East Carolina and more.
Crum says his offer came directly from North Texas offensive line coach Mike Bloesch.
“Tonight, I got a great phone call from coach Bloesch with an official offer to play with UNT,” said Crum in his announcement post. “After talking to coach over the last few weeks, and hearing everything UNT has to offer… I will be committing to THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS.”
The Pinson Valley senior is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. He checks in at No. 74 overall among Alabama’s 2021 class.
“First off, I want to thank God for his many blessings,” wrote Crum. “Next, I would like to thank my family for always being there for me, and loving me no matter what. I would like to thank the administrators, my teachers, my teammates, and my coaches at Pinson Valley for their support and help throughout the last four years. I wouldn’t have this opportunity without you guys.”
The Pinson Valley offense, including Crum, has a massive challenge ahead, as the Tribe travels to Legion Field Friday for a clash with Class 5A No. 3 Ramsay, who has surrendered a total of seven points in three games this season. Pinson Valley scores at a rate of 28.6 points per night, thanks in part to Crum.
