BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was shot multiple times while driving through Pratt City.
According to BPD, the incident occurred in the 700 block of Carline Avenue on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at around 5:30 p.m. Officers from West Precinct responded to reports of a person shot and found the victim, 41-year-old Rodger Burr II, inside of his vehicle unresponsive. Burr was shot multiple times and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was at the intersection of Carline Avenue and Avenue T when another vehicle pulled adjacent to the victim’s car. Someone inside that vehicle fired multiple shots fatally wounding the victim.
There are no suspects in custody and detectives have not established a motive. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to contact Birmingham police at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
