Clifton Shane Kirksey, age 40 of Trussville, Alabama went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020.
Shane was a loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend who was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
Shane grew up with a desire to be in the U.S. Marine Corp. He served his country proudly for eight years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served two tours in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V”, a Purple Heart Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal, and many more commendations during his military career.
Shane attended West Coast Baptist Institute where he received his degree in Pastoral Theology. He loved serving his Lord and led many to Christ during his life. One of his greatest testimonies was while serving in the military, someone found a Bible and placed it on his bunk because they always saw him reading and studying.
Shane was employed as an Application Engineer Manager with Photron USA located in San Diego, California.
Shane was an avid outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing trips on the gulf with his Dad and children. He became a certified scuba diver at age 12 and enjoyed diving for many years. But most of all he loved spending time with his beautiful daughters, he had a strong love and loyalty to his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Jordynn, Audrey, Lydia, Robyn, Elayna, and Olyvia Kirksey; and his wife, Melissa.
He loved his parents greatly, his Dad, Robert Kirksey and his wife, Bonnie; and his mother, Connie Ray and her husband, Jim Ray; brothers, Eric Kirksey (Lisa) and Jim Ray (Jodie); grandparents, Rayvee and Doris Harbison; aunts and uncles, Terry Harbison, Roger Harbison (Kathy), Jeff Kirksey (Debbie); nieces, Hannah Kirksey and Eden Kirksey; nephews, Ben Kirksey, Noah Kirksey, Marcus Lankford; great nephews, Ashton and Baylon Stuwart; and numerous cousins, their children, father and mother-in-law, Paul Jordan, Jr. and Kathy Jordan; sister-in-law Angela Bolt (Richard) and brother-in-law, Matt Jordan (Rachel) and daughter Autumn; grandparents, Paul Jordan, Sr. (Maxine)and many friends.
Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Bette Kirksey.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12 noon. Pastor Ernie Merritt from San Diego, California will officiate and Military Honors will be by the U.S. Marine Corps.
