BIRMINGHAM — One person was killed in a rush-hour crash in downtown Birmingham on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.
The crash happened at the Interstate 65 and Interstate 59 interchange and officials confirm an 18-wheeler was involved.
Birmingham Police were on the scene Tuesday afternoon investigating. Traffic was blocked at the crash site but one lane has since opened. Traffic in both directions was slow-moving and drivers are urged to use extreme caution in the area. If possible, avoid the area.
The body of the one person killed will be taken to the Jefferson County Coroner’s/Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
No other injuries have been reported at this time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
