TRUSSVILLE — A year like no other demands a Christmas parade like no other. So this year’s Trussville Christmas parade will have a different twist, but without a 2020 kind of sting. For the first time in recent memory, a theme has been attached to the event.
This year’s theme, Christmas Traditions, is meant to spark fond memories of Christmases past and inspire parade entrants to take one or more of those memories and turn them into an award-winning float.
“We can’t wait to see the level of creativity that having a theme adds to the event,” said Melissa Walker, event coordinator for the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce. “A theme puts everybody at the same starting point, yet offers the challenge of interpreting that theme in a way that outdoes the competition.”
Float Competition prizes will be awarded for:
- Best Interpretation of Theme
- Most Original
- Most Innovative
- Best Overall.
A prize will also be awarded to the Best Walking Group.
“The parade is still several weeks away, so that should give everybody plenty of time to think about the Christmas tradition they want to portray,” said Walker. “It’s going to be a lot of fun for everybody involved, so sign up today then get those creative juices flowing!”
The parade will take place on Dec. 12, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Individuals and groups wishing to participate can register online at www.trussvillechamber.com. For more information, call the chamber office at or email Melissa.firstname.lastname@example.org.
