ALEXANDRIA — The Moody High School football team remained winless with a 57-20 loss at No. 6 Alexandria on Friday night.
The Valley Cubs (8-0, 6-0) found paydirt on their third snap of the game with a 41-yard pitch to Javais McGhee, and rolled on to a 28-6 first-quarter lead. Alexandria later went to the half holding a 48-6 advantage.
The home team rolled up 204 yards rushing in the first half and held the Blue Devils (0-7, 0-5) to minus-29 yards on the ground.
The Valley Cubs will travel to Leeds next Friday night to decide the Class 5A, Region 7 championship.
“Alexandria is an unbelievable football team, they are beating people to death and we just hope to hang in there with them,” said Leeds head coach Jerry Hood of the title match up. “We are the obvious underdogs by a tremendous amount, so we’ll just try to do the best we can and just go out there and snap it two or three times and hope we can hang in there.”
Moody will play host to Lincoln next Friday night.
