OXFORD — A Memphis man is in custody after a three-county chase on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020.
According to Carol Robinson, with al.com, a trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency stopped the driver on Interstate 20, in Oxford. After the trooper asked for the driver’s ID, the trooper said the driver took off.
The chase continued through Calhoun County, St. Clair County and Jefferson County. It ended on Cherry Ave. at U.S. 48, according to Robinson.
The driver was identified as Jacquez Smith, 27, of Memphis. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of criminal mischief first-degree and reckless endangerment.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the chase.
