BIRMINGHAM – Students in the Birmingham City School system are scheduled to return to in-person learning next Monday, Nov. 9.
For the kids at Minor Elementary School, the return to the classroom will have to wait a little longer, due to an infestation of bats in their building. According to BCS, students and staff will not be allowed at the school as crews try to mitigate the problem.
According to reports, the process is expected to take at least one week. Students will continue remote learning during that time.
“We appreciate the hard work of our faculty and staff,” said Superintendent Mark Sullivan. “We know many of our students are looking forward to the return to in-person learning, but we must address this issue in the best interest of their health and safety.”
The Child Nutrition Program will serve breakfast and lunch at curbside from Minor Elementary School, as meals will be prepared at other schools and transported over by bus.
