BIRMINGHAM — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing that took place on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Ensley.
Birmingham police say 57-year-old Ricky Ray Carlisle, of Hoover, was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday night after officers found him suffering from a stab wound.
According to a release from the Birmingham Police Department, officers from West Precinct responded at approximately 9:28 p.m. to an assault call at 3024 17th Street in Ensley. Upon arrival, officers discovered Carlisle unresponsive in the living room of a residence.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue along with the Jefferson County Coroner.
The preliminary investigation suggests the incident was domestic in nature. Police say Carlisle was involved in a verbal altercation prior to being fatally wounded. There is one suspect in custody.
This is an ongoing homicide investigation.
