BIRMINGHAM — On Friday afternoon, the UAB football program announced its second game cancelation in as many days.
One day after calling off this weekend’s home game against North Texas, the Blazers doubled up by canceling a second straight contest, this time a road tilt at UTEP, which was scheduled for Friday Nov. 20 in Midland, Texas.
According to a statement from the school, the cancelations are a result of positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing within the UAB football program.
The UAB Football Twitter account posted the following message on Friday: “Due to the recent developments of COVID positive ests and subsequent contact tracing within the UAB football program, next Friday’s game at UTEP has been canceled. Stay with us Blazer Nation – We’ll be back soon.”
UAB’s next scheduled game is set for Nov. 27 when the Blazers play host to Southern Miss. There also remains the possibility of rescheduling the games missed.
