UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Evander Lewis Williams, of Birmingham. According to Birmingham police, detectives are investigating this case as a homicide.
BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the death of a man found dead near an apartment building on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 20020.
Officers responded to the scene in the 400 block of 36th Avenue North, around 10:12 a.m. Birmingham Fire and Rescue and the Jefferson County Coroner responded and pronounced the man dead. The identity of the man will be released after his family is notified.
Police said it was later determined the man had a gunshot wound.
Although the police department received reports of the incident being a suicide, but the manner of death has not been determined.
