JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has reported that two men have died in separate motorcycle accidents spanning over the past week.
Phillip Wayne Martin, 69, of Pleasant Grove, sustained injuries when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a sedan at the intersection of John Hawkins Parkway and Lake Crest Drive in Hoover on Nov. 14. Martin was transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 20.
The second accident occurred on Interstate-59 North on the night of Nov. 20, when the motorcycle 44-year-old Roderick Keyon Gamble was riding collided with another vehicle near the Aviation Avenue overpass in Birmingham. The Birmingham man was pronounced dead the following morning.
According to the coroner’s office, the cause and circumstances of Gamble’s wreck are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department. Martin’s accident in being investigated by the Hoover Police Department.
