HOOVER — The Hoover police officer who shot and killed E.J. Bradford on Thanksgiving night in 2018 has been identified following a lawsuit by Bradford’s mother.
According to court documents, the officer that fired the shot that killed Bradford was David Alexander, who was on duty at the Riverchase Galleria that night. After an investigation, the shooting was ruled justified by the state of Alabama.
Bradford was shot by Alexander in the aftermath of a separate shooting that took place in the Hoover mall on Nov. 22, 2018. At the time, police say the officer thought Bradford was the gunman that shot a teen and 12-year-old girl. An investigation later showed the shooter to be another man.
A lawsuit filed by Bradford’s family against the city of Hoover is still pending.
