SOMERVILLE, Ala. — A Laceys Spring man was killed on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in a crash near Somerville, Ala.
Bartolo Diaz-Hidalgo, 26, was killed around 9:50 p.m. when the 2004 Jeep Cherokee he was operating ran off the roadway, overturned and hit a gravel driveway, according to troopers. The crash happened on U.S. 231, near Apple Grove Road, approximately 16 miles west of Somerville.
Hidalgo was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
“Speed has been determined to be a contributing factor to the wreck,” said Trooper Brandon Bailey.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is investigating.
