LEEDS — Shelves are going up and decorations are hung inside the new Buc-ee’s location in Leeds. The large convenience store and gas station off Interstate 20, at exit 140, is set to open on Jan. 25, 2021.
The premier travel center is known for its large selection of products for everything from snacks to hunting accessories.
The outside of the store is completed and gas pumps are installed. Large, lighted canopies cover the gas pump area.
Inside, crews are working daily to make progress on displays and plans for the new store. They will work until Christmas break and will return in January to add finishing touches.
Local decor, such as an Alabama Avenue Street sign found at an antique store in Georgia, will be part of the decor. The marketing team said they like to keep the details local in each store.
The large chain, based in Texas, already has one Alabama location in south Alabama
The chain touts numerous gas pumps, retail space and super clean restrooms as just some of the reasons Buc-ee’s stands out from other travel centers. They also offer barbeque, “Beaver nuggets”, jerky and other specialty food items.
The road going into Buc-ee’s will remain closed until the store opens. Although some people have already tried pulling in to use get gas, the pumps are not ready for business.
