ATLANTA — A suspect in a shooting and police chase in Alabama was found dead in Atlanta, according to a report by Carol Robinson with al.com.
Matthew William Loyd, 46, was found shot to death on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. No arrests have been made in connection to the death of Loyd.
Loyd was one of two suspects in a chase that began in Hueytown on the night of Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.
Hueytown Police responding to a burglary in progress at Birmingham Auto Auction were shot at, according to multiple reports. The suspects fled and led police on a chase through Jefferson and St. Clair Counties.
Birmingham Police, Pell City Police, Riverside Police and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the chase.
During the pursuit down I-59/20, the suspects fired at Hueytown Police and Birmingham Police and one Birmingham Police vehicle crashed. No one was hurt.
When the vehicle the suspects were traveling in entered St. Clair County, deputies deployed spike strips and stopped the vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody, and another, believed to be Loyd, fled on foot.
The suspect that was taken into custody was Lazarus Lamonte Glover. He is charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempting to elude and one charge of reckless endangerment.
