UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Carl Misenrendino III, 35, of Birmingham.
BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is conducting the year’s first homicide investigation.
According to police, the incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 at approximately 9:05 p.m.
East Precinct officers responded to 4040 40th Avenue North on reports of a person down Friday night. Upon arrival, officers located an unnamed victim who was lying unresponsive near a residence. BPD says the victim will be identified pending notification to the next of kin.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Authorities say details are limited at this time, but evidence suggests that this is a homicide investigation.
