TARRANT — The Tarrant Police Department is investigating a shooting death after detectives said someone shot into a vehicle.
The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. Officers were dispatched to the scene in the 1400 block of Elizabeth Avenue.
Detectives determined a 19-year-old male had been shot while sitting in the back seat of a sedan. The teen was taken to UAB Hospital, where he died.
Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates identified the victim as Cevon Deshun Gibbs, of Bessemer.
Four others who were inside the vehicle, including a toddler, were not hurt.
No arrests have been announced.
