TRUSSVILLE — An auto service and repair shop that has been in downtown Trussville for 42 years is moving to the city of Ashville.
Trussville Auto & Truck, a general repair shop, closed its Trussville location in the 300 block of Main Street. The move came after the property was sold and the landowner gave owners Derrell and Dorren Pepper notice to be out by Dec. 31, 2020.
“We were leasing the property and with the development in downtown Trussville, some land developers purchased the property from the owners,” said Derrell Pepper.
Although it wasn’t his choice to leave, Pepper said many of his customers have voiced their appreciation for the business. He said some have vowed to make the drive to Ashville to continue doing business with him.
“I want them to know how much I appreciate their business and support through the years,” Pepper added. I’ve worked on what would now be grandparent’s, parent’s and children’s cars. We’ve watched these children grow and become parents themselves and it’s been a blessing for us to have served the people in Trussville and the great people who have become friends. We have shared a lot of experience and prayers over the years.”
Trussville Auto & Truck has been in operation since 1979. The Peppers took over the business on Jan. 1, 1985. They do service, maintenance, alignments and tires. Derrell Pepper is also an ASE Certified Master Technician. He says he wants the people of Ashville to know he fixes cars the way he would want his own car fixed.
“We’re an auto repair shop that they can trust and depend on,” said Pepper. “Our slogan for many years has been, ‘Skill, Integrity and Service’ and that’s not going to change.”
The Peppers will change the name of the shop but have not decided on a name yet. They are currently in the process of getting the new shop in Ashville set up for business. It will be located at 554 5th Street, Ashville.
