April Denise Winston, 39, was called home on Dec. 31, 2020. April was born on Nov. 5, 1981 in Birmingham, AL to James Robert Green Jr. and the late Lillie Pearl Green.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Green. She is survived by her husband, Tavares, four children: Jaylon, Tameria, Alyssa, and Christian; three brothers: James (Sonjanika), John (Ralanda), and Justin; three sisters Tamada, Tonneau, and Lillie (Tyrone); best friends Michelle Perry and Jannie Ross; mother-in-law Eloise Howard, and brother-in-law Nicholas Howard.
She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. April is a product of Jefferson County School System and graduate of Erwin High School Class of 2000. She was an Alumni of Lawson State Community College obtained, an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing.
April married her life partner, soulmate, and husband Tavares Winston on March 25, 2011. This union resulted in four children. April accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. April and Tavares along with their children became members of St. Matthew Baptist Church in Docena, AL where Reverend Eddie Washington is pastor.
April was a dedicated registered nurse who carried out the ministry of God on Earth and was employed with Ball Healthcare for 11 years. She served in many positions which included staff RN to Director of Nursing. She was currently serving as a Unit Manager at Cherry Hill Rehab and Healthcare before she was called home.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for all the prayers, calls, visits, etc. during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held from 9-4 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Trussville on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.
A graveside service will be the following day, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at 1 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens.
