MOODY — The Springville boys basketball team overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to beat Moody 39-35 in the St. Clair County Tournament championship game on Saturday.
Down 26-12 at intermission, the Tigers rallied with 14 points in the third and 13 more in the fourth to claim the tournament championship. Springville struggled from deep, logging a 1-for-13 effort from beyond the arc, but gathered 21 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second-chance points in the win.
Carson Kersh and Chase Higgins paced the Tigers with eight points apiece to go with six more from Pearson Baldwin.
For Moody, Davion Dozier and Peyton Ingram sank 12 and eight points, respectively. However, the Blue Devils struggled to find offense throughout the second half as Springville clawed back and eventually scored the win.
In other action, the seventh-ranked Pinson Valley boys blew by Parker 75-46 on Saturday.
Sophomore Terry Coner buried seven treys to finish with 22 points for the Tribe (17-3, 5-1). Freshman Caleb White pitched in with 14 points and senior JoJo James added 10 more.
Pinson Valley wraps up its regular season home schedule on Monday night opposite Hueytown.
