BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the shooting deaths of two people found inside a home.
Police found the victims on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, around 10:40 p.m. They were inside a home at 1481 Edwards Street. One of the victims was found in the hallway and another in a bedroom.
“At this time, detectives will be investigating the victim found in the hallway as a homicide investigation; detectives will be investigating the victim found in the bedroom as an unclassified death,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified them as 75-year-old Eula Mae Moore and 54-year-old Derrick Cornell Moore, both of Birmingham. Police did not specify which victim was found in the hallway and which was in the bedroom. An autopsy will be performed on body bodies to better understand the nature of the injuries, according to Coroner Bill Yates.
