BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office identified three people killed in separate crashes on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.
Joshua Alexander Plourde, 25, of Homewood, was involved in a single-vehicle crash in the 5500 block of 1st Avenue South, Birmingham. The crash happened at 7:28 a.m. and Plourde was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:46 a.m. No one else was in the vehicle.
At 2:55 p.m., there was a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Pearson Avenue at 17th Place SW, in Birmingham. The driver of the motorcycle, Denzel Lorenzo Billups, 30, of Birmingham, was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:09 p.m.
Monday night, at 10:42 p.m., first responders were called to a crash on Interstate 59 South, near mile marker 123, in Birmingham. A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of Malera Shannell Staples, 24, of Birmingham. Staples was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:01 p.m.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating all three fatal crashes.
