UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Rhett Wayne Yager of Locust Fork. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Yager was struck by multiple vehicles while walking on Hwy. 79 in Pinson.
The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
EARLIER:
PINSON — Detectives from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 79, in Pinson.
The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021.
“According to reports, a currently unidentified white male stepped into the path of a vehicle traveling south on Highway 79 near the Dollar General,” said Sgt. Joni Money.
The male was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the vehicle was cooperating with investigators.
