JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified two people killed in a crash on Interstate 50, on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
Montez Undra Tolbert, Jr., 25, of Bessemer, and Bishop Jones, 23, of Hueytown, were both pronounced dead on the scene near mile marker 118, in the area of Fairfield.
The accident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday when two vehicles sideswiped and lost control. The Chevrolet Cobalt that Tolbert and Jones were traveling in rolled over multiple times and traveled down an embankment and the two were ejected from the vehicle.
Two others were transported to UAB Hospital with unknown injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash.
