TRUSSVILLE — Preparations are underway for the 2021 Trussville Job Fair, set for Thursday, March 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Trussville Public Library. Presenting sponsor for the event is Darrell Walker Workforce.
“Our 2020 job fair was canceled due to COVID-19, but our first job fair in 2019 was a huge success, and we’re expecting this one to be even better,” said June Mathews, executive director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce. “A lot of people are hunting jobs right now, and this is a great way to connect them with employers.”
The job fair marks the first time the chamber has joined with the Trussville Public Library in putting together an event, and the partnership, said Mathews, is taking things to a whole new level.
“I’m not sure the average person realizes how many job-hunting resources our library provides to the public,” she said. “So not only will this event give job seekers a chance to apply for specific positions but a chance to see how the library can help with their job search, too.”
Presenting sponsor Darrell Walker Workforce will be available to give job seekers an extra boost by way of job counseling and tips for creating an effective resume. According to its president Linda Walker Channell, DWW exists to benefit individuals needing employment, as well as companies needing quality employees. Daughter of the founder of Darrell Walker Personnel, Channell has made her father’s priorities of quality relationships and excellent service her own and has thus enjoyed similar success in the employment field.
“This is a very rewarding line of work to be in,” she said. “We’re in a position to help companies and individuals, and in doing so, we can be a positive force, not only for people who need jobs but for the entire community.”
Vendor space for employers with current job openings is $50 for chamber members and $100 for non-members. Registration forms are available online at www.trussvillechamber.com or at the chamber office at 400 Main Street in downtown Trussville.
The job fair is free for job seekers, but pre-registration is requested. Anyone wishing to add their name to the registration list should call the chamber office at (205) 655-7535.
