BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department began investigating a homicide after a person was found dead in an apartment fire on March 4, 2021.
The fire happened at around 9:40 p.m. last Thursday. Birmingham Fire & Rescue personnel located the victim near a doorway in the apartment in the 100 block of Woodstation Place.
The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Terrance Jerome Hardy on Monday. The Birmingham Police Department says the preliminary investigation suggests that Hardy sustained a gunshot wound.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
