BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation following a Friday-afternoon shooting.
At approximately 3:05 p.m., the Birmingham Police Department 911 Communication
Division received a call from a third party caller of an altercation occurring at an apartment located in the 962 53rd Street North. The department says officers arrived at the location and discovered the victim, Robert Goodgame lying on a sofa with an apparent gunshot wound. Goodgame was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
He was 41 years old.
According to BPD, the preliminary investigation indicates that a single sunshot was heard during the altercation. Authorities believe the suspect fled prior to their arrival on the scene. No arrest has been made. Detectives have not determined a clear motive.
