BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service in Birmingham is watching a system that is expected to bring storms to central Alabama.
Some severe thunderstorms are possible on Monday, March 15, from late morning into the afternoon. These storms are expected to be mainly across northwest areas. The threat includes damaging winds of up to 60 mph and hail up to a quarter-size. The NWS said a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.
A second threat of severe thunderstorms is expected Wednesday afternoon and evening. All of central Alabama could see storms bringing large hail, damaging winds up to 60 mph and there is a threat of tornadoes. The NWS has not locked down the timing for the Wednesday event.
