A couple local softball teams took the field last weekend before the weather arrived.

Hewitt-Trussville doubleheader
The Hewitt-Trussville girls notched their 16th win of the season last weekend in the Buccaneer Round Robin in Hoover. It took the Huskies (16-1-1) only three innings on Saturday to put Oxford away, 15-0. Hewitt opened tournament play up with an 11-all tie with Mortimer Jordan.
On the day, Kenleigh Cahalan collected two hits, three RBIs and six runs scored for the Huskies while Anyce Harvey went for three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Hannah Dorsett provided three hits, a pair of RBIs and three runs scored.
Sarah Hindman tossed the winning effort against Oxford, holding the Jackets scoreless through three innings with two hits. She needed only 30 pitches to earn the win.
Springville doubleheader
Springville is warming up.
After suffering a one-run, extra-innings loss at Mortimer Jordan last week, the Tigers (12-5) have rattled off four straight wins — matching the team’s longest streak of the year.
Springville got there with a pair of wins on Saturday in the St. Clair County Tournament. The girls notched a 4-0 shutout of St. Clair County in the semifinals and knocked off Moody 16-5 in the tournament championship game.
McKenzie Brown paced the offense with three hits, including a triple and six RBIs to go with two hits and five RBIs from Tori Barnes. Bullington pitched a three-hit shutout against St. Clair County in four innings and Reagan Cornelius scored the win over Moody in four innings pitched with five strikeouts and two walks for the Tigers.
Springville placed four players on the all-tournament team, including MVP Makalyn Kyser, Graci Black, Reagan Cornelius and Tatum Bartlett.
