FULTONDALE — Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin announced the school system plans to move Fultondale High School students to a temporary campus on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
The new campus is at the old Warrior Elementary School. Warrior Elementary students will move to the new Warrior Elementary School.
“Over the last few weeks our teachers, administrators, maintenance workers, and many others have worked to transform this campus into a building suitable for high school students,” Gonsoulin said.
Students attending in-person instruction will remain at Warrior Elementary until the new Fultondale High School is built. Gonsoulin said the construction of the new school should be completed by March 2023. The project was already approved and in the works, before the tornado hit earlier this year, Gonsoulin added.
An open house for students and families will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. More information about the open house and bus routes will be provided in the coming days.
“If we have to make any changes to this timeline we will communicate them to you as early as possible,” Gonsoulin added. “We will also continue to update you on the progress of the new permanent Fultondale High School.”
