BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham woman is dead following a head-on car crash Sunday.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 52-year-old Brandy Lee Moore Ballard, of Birmingham.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates says Ballard was the driver and lone occupant of a 2007 Ford Focus traveling south in the 800 block of Arkadelphia Road when her vehicle was struck head on by a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Ballard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the Camaro crossed over the center line into the decedent’s travel lane, causing the collision. Investigators believe the Chevrolet Camaro was racing another vehicle at the time of the wreck.
