JASPER — A Townley man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning.
The accident, according to police, took place about seven miles west of Jasper on Alabama 124 at the 5.7 mile marker. Authorities believe the wreck occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 24.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has identified the victim as 20-year-old Jacob Cooper, of Townley. Cooper was killed when he lost control of the 2015 Nissan Sentra he was driving, which left the roadway, traveled down a steep embankment and struck a tree.
Authorities believe poor weather conditions could have been a factor in the accident.
Cooper was pronounced deceased at the scene. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
