A couple local softball teams have found their way to the field this week during spring break.

Hewitt-Trussville Gulf Coast Classic
The top-ranked Hewitt-Trussville softball team took a share of the Gulf Coast Classic championship this week after weather brought the tournament to an end prior to the semifinal round.
The Huskies strung together six straight wins in Gulf Shores, bumping their season record to 23-1-1. Head coach Taylor Bert’s girls went past Wetumpka 9-8, Greene County 8-2, Chilton County 3-1, Pleasant Valley 15-0 and 1-0, and Dale County 12-6.
Alabama commit Jenna Lord led Hewitt with nine RBIs on 10 hits, including a home run. Hannah Dorsett connected with nine hits, resulting in eight RBIs to go with 12 hits and five RBIs from Anyce Harvey.
Defensively, the Huskies leaned on Sarah Hindman and Sara Phillips in the circle. Hindman tossed 11 innings on her way to two tournament wins and 12 strikeouts. Phillips provided 10 innings of work, 16 strikeouts and two wins.
Since drawing an 11-all tie with Mortimer Jordan on March 13, Hewitt-Trussville has put together eight straight wins.
Pinson Valley spring break play
The Indians dropped a trio of games on Tuesday. Pinson Valley (3-14) started the day with an 8-4 loss to Ohatchee, followed by an 8-4 loss to Saks, followed by an 8-6 loss to St. Clair County.
The girls will be back in action next Tuesday when Hayden visits.
