Local softball teams continue jockeying for area position, and this week brought a little more clarity to the postseason outlook.

Hewitt-Trussville 5, Vestavia Hills 0
The top-ranked Huskies extended their win streak to seven games on Thursday with a 5-0 area victory over Vestavia Hills.
Sarah Hindman delivered a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts and as many walks for Hewitt-Trussville (26-1-1, 3-0). All of her run support came in the fifth (3) and sixth (2) innings.
Hannah Dorsett and Kenleigh Cahalan came through with two RBIs each to go with another from Jenna Lord.
The Huskies followed with two more wins on Friday: a 4-1 decision over Central and a 10-1 final over Springville.
Mortimer Jordan 18 Clay-Chalkville 3
The Clay-Chalkville softball team slid to 0-3 in Class 6A, Area 12 play on Thursday with an 18-5 loss at Mortimer Jordan in four innings.
Leeds 17 Parker 2
Leeds notched another area win on Thursday to improve to 3-0 in Class 5A, Area 10 play. The Green Wave (5-7) collected 14 hits and surrendered four to top Parker 17-2 in Birmingham.
Maddie Anthony and Emma Machen both homered for the visitors. Anthony went home with three hits, two RBIs and four runs scored. Machen pitched all seven with 10 strikeouts and one walk.
