BIRMINGHAM —The Birmingham Police Department is investigating after six people were shot on Easter Sunday in Patton Park.
The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Police said people were gathered at the park, on Sipsey Street, for Easter.
Areyelle Yarbrough, 32, of Bessemer, was pronounced dead on the scene and five others were injured.
Four of those hurt in the shooting ranged from ages five to 17 and the other was an adult. They are all now listed in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups of males. Over 30 rounds were fired.
